⚠️ Disclaimer
Roopalia.com publishes two kinds of writing — articles on Indian festivals, vrats and traditions, and practical guides on home remedies for hair and skin. Please read the part of this page that applies to what you came here for.
🪔 Religious and traditional content
Our articles on vrats, festivals, pujas and customs describe religious tradition and popular belief. They are written to inform, not to instruct anyone on what to believe or how to worship.
Hindu practice varies enormously by region, community and family. The vidhi followed in a Rajasthan household is not always the vidhi followed in Karnataka, and both are correct where they are practised. Where we know of more than one accepted method, we say so. Your own family's practice, and the guidance of your family priest, should always come before anything you read on this site.
1. Fasting and your health
Several of our articles describe vrats that involve fasting, sometimes for a whole day and sometimes over many weeks. Fasting is not safe for everyone.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not attempt a full fast without asking your doctor
- If you have diabetes, fasting can affect your blood sugar. Never change the timing of your medicine or meals on your own
- With blood pressure, thyroid, kidney or heart conditions, speak to your physician first
- Waterless or extended fasts are not suitable for elderly people or young children
- If you feel dizzy, weak, or break into a cold sweat, break the fast at once and eat something
Nothing on this website is medical advice, and we are not doctors. Protecting your body comes before completing any vrat — the texts themselves say as much.
2. Dates, tithis and muhurat
Festival dates, tithis and muhurat timings on this site are taken from established panchangs, and we name the source in the article. Even so, please note:
- North India follows the purnimanta calendar and much of the south and west follows the amanta calendar, so the same festival can fall on different dates
- A tithi begins and ends at a particular clock time, so the date can shift by a day between two cities — and certainly between India and another country
- Panchangs published by different institutions sometimes disagree, and we say so when they do
Before you act on any date or muhurat — a fast, a puja, a ceremony — check your own local panchang or ask your family priest. We give these timings as a starting point, not as a ruling.
3. Vrat kathas and scriptural references
Where we quote a Purana or a scripture, we name the text and the chapter so you can check it yourself. Where a story or a rule comes from printed vrat-katha books or from village custom rather than from scripture, we say that plainly instead of calling it "written in the shastras". Different published versions of the same katha do differ, and the version your family reads may not match ours word for word.
4. Educational purposes and general information only
Everything published on Roopalia.com is for educational purposes and general information. We do not guarantee the results, suitability or effectiveness of any product, remedy, routine or practice described here.
5. Beauty, hair and home remedies
Every person's skin, hair and body is different. Something that suited us, or suited most readers, may not suit you.
- Always do a patch test before using a new product or home remedy on your skin or scalp
- Stop immediately if you notice burning, itching or a rash
- For persistent acne, allergies, pigmentation or heavy hair fall, see a qualified dermatologist rather than relying on internet advice
6. Ingredients we name
Our home-remedy articles sometimes name an ingredient — coconut oil, amla, henna, turmeric, a sulphate-free shampoo. These are described as ingredients and categories, not as brands, and we earn nothing from naming them. Where the label matters we say what to look for, so you can judge any product for yourself. Roopalia no longer publishes product reviews.
7. Advertising, and what we do not do
Roopalia carries no affiliate links and no shopping links — not in any article, and not in Sakhi AI’s answers. Where display advertising runs, it is served by an advertising network; we do not choose or endorse what appears, and an advertisement is never a recommendation from us. Full details are in our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.
8. Images on this site
The illustrations in our articles are AI-generated and are labelled as such in the caption or alt text of every image. They are drawn to illustrate a practice or an idea. They are not photographs of real people, real places, or any specific temple or event.
9. About Sakhi AI
🤖 AI-generated answers
Sakhi AI, the chat assistant on this site, produces its answers using artificial intelligence. It is a helper, not an authority.
- Its answers come from a machine learning model and are not always accurate
- It cannot diagnose any medical or skin condition, and does not prescribe treatment
- It cannot replace a doctor, a dermatologist, or a family priest
- Any date, muhurat or ritual detail it gives should be checked against a panchang before you act on it
10. Legal, government and travel information
Some articles mention a law — such as the Rajasthan Prevention of Mrityu Bhoj Act or the Dowry Prohibition Act — or a government or embassy procedure, such as registering a death or carrying ashes to India. This is general information for educational purposes, not legal advice. Laws are amended and procedures change from country to country and year to year. Before you act, check the current rule with the relevant government office, your embassy or consulate, or a qualified lawyer.
11. Rites of mourning and grief
Our articles on the days after a death describe what scripture says in translation and what families commonly do. Every community keeps these days differently, and no article should add to a grieving family’s burden. Follow your own elders and family priest. If grief becomes too heavy to carry, please speak to someone close to you or to a qualified counsellor.
12. Short disclaimer in every article
Each article carries a short disclaimer just before its questions and answers, noting that it is for educational purposes and general information, that its illustrations are AI-generated, and that it is not medical, legal or astrological advice.
13. External links
We link to other websites where it helps the reader. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their privacy practices.
14. Limitation of liability
Roopalia.com and Durva AI Private Limited are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from the use of information published here. Readers take responsibility for how they choose to use it.
🩺 If in doubt, ask a person
For anything to do with your health — a fast you are unsure about, a skin problem that will not settle, hair loss that worries you — please see a qualified doctor. And for a ritual or a date you are going to act on, ask your family elders or your priest. A website cannot know your circumstances. They can.
